    NOMINATION FORM

  • The purpose of the Distinguished Alumni Award is to recognize a Southern Union alumn who has made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments and loyalty to the College have honored the legacy of excellence at Southern Union.

     

    DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS IS MARCH 1, 2026

    • Selection Criteria 

    • SELECTION CRITERIA:

      • Eligible nominees must have earned an associate’s degree or diploma or 45 semester hours (67 quarter hours) at Southern Union.
      • Professional achievement: Nominees must have distinguished himself/herself through achievement or advancement in his/her career, earned degrees, professional training, professional recognition and/or made outstanding contributions to his or her field.
      • Service to the community: Nominees must have a demonstrated record of bettering the lives of others through community participation and involvement.
      • Advocacy of higher education and support of SUSCC:  The recipient’s deeds and actions reflect the importance of his/her educational training, pride in his/her alma mater and loyalty to SUSCC as demonstrated through their interest in and support of SUSCC and its programs.

      METHOD OF NOMINATION:

      • Nominations may be made by any individual, friend of the college, former student or employee, or current member of the administration, faculty and staff.
      • Nominators must include a letter of nomination/support with nomination form.
      • No limitations will be placed on the total number of nominations that are accepted for consideration. 
      • Nominees will be contacted before final judging and given the chance to enhance their nomination packet by providing additional supporting items that further distinguish the nominee, such as letters of support, personal stories, newspaper articles, current vitae, other items of interest.
      • If an individual is not selected, his/her nomination form may be updated and renewed by the original nominator for consideration in subsequent years.

      METHOD OF AWARD RECIPIENT SELCTION:

      • The recipient of the award will be notified and invited to the recognition event which takes place on April 9, 2026.
