    RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM APPLICATION

  • Notice: Admission requirements and procedures may change without prior notice. Applications from students who are currently enrolled in the Radiography Program at SUSCC will not be considered. A new application must be submitted by the applicant for each admission cycle.

  • Please make sure you have completed all terms below before continuing with this application.

  • PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    Admission to the Radiologic Technology Program is competitive, and the number of students is limited by the number of faculty and clinical facilities available. Meeting minimal requirements does not guarantee acceptance.  Applicants who do not meet all minimal requirements will not be considered for program admission.

  • MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    1. Unconditional admission to the college. (See College Catalog)
    2. Completed application for the Radiologic Technology program by published deadline.
    3. Minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA of completed Radiologic Technology required academic core courses from a regionally accredited institution and transfer students must enter College on clear academic status.
    4. Minimum 2.0 GPA at Southern Union.
    5. Minimum of 2.5 high school 12th grade GPA for students without prior college work (GED passage acceptable in place of 2.5 GPA).**Must have official high school transcript with graduation date on file.
    6. High school students with prior college work and graduating during the application window must submit unofficial transcript with application.  If accepted, an official transcript must be sent after graduation. 
    7. Eligibility for English 101, Math 100 and satisfaction of College reading requirement. This is verified by meeting College’s ACT, SAT, COMPASS, OR ACCUPLACER placement score requirements, or transfer of English
      Composition I (for reading and English requirements) and Intermediate Algebra or higher level math (for math requirement).
    8. A minimum of 18 composite score ACT National or Residual. Test scores must be on file with Records office and a copy must be attached to program application.
    9. Good standing with the college.
    10. Meet the essential functions required for Radiologic Technology.
    11. Be at least 18 years of age (Alabama Regulations for Control of Radiation Rule 420-3-03(6), "Occupational Radiation Dose Limits: States that all occupational workers employing ionizing radiation must be at least 18 years of age.)
    12. Students cannot apply as a new student while actively enrolled in the RAD Tech Program. 
    13. In-progress courses are not calculated in the application process. 
  • GPA REQUIREMENTS

    CUMULATIVE GPA:  A minimum college cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required.  Students without prior college work must have a minimum 2.5 GPA from 12th grade coursework OR GED completion.

  • ACADEMIC CORE GPA 

    A minimum GPA of 2.5 on any completed program academic core courses is required.  All academic core courses that are required for the radiologic technology program may be completed either prior to or concurrently while in the program.

    Please select the final grade posted on your transcripts for each of the following courses.  For courses not taken, please leave field set to 'please select'.

  • RECORDS & TRANSCRIPTS

  • Official transcripts form EACH college attended must be received (via mail or electronically) by the Registrar's office in Wadley before the application deadline.  Send to: SUSCC Records Office, P.O. Box 1000, Wadley, AL 36276 OR electronically.

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Students admitted into the Radiologic Technology Program must maintain the ability to meet all physical and mental essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.  After admission into the program, students will be required to obtain medical verification of their ability to meet all essential functions in order to participate in the program.

  • APPLICATION POINTS WORKSHEET

    Applicants that meet the minimum admission requirements are individually evaluated and awared points based on their scholarly merits.  

    This worksheet will allow you to calculate your total applicant score.  All entries will be verified by SUSCC Health Science Admissions for accuracy.

    A total applicant score of 166 points may be achieved.  Students are ranked and admitted into the radiologic technology program based on their total applicant score.  If a tie should exist between applicants, the core GPA will determine the ranking.

  • SECTION A:  ACT COMPOSITE SCORE 

    Official score from ACT National or Residual with a minimum composite of 18 is required. Students with an ACT below 18 will not be considered for admission into the nursing program.  There is no time limit for when the test was taken.

    It is the applicant's responsiblity to verify that their ACT score is on file.  ACT test scores submitted to the Records Office after the application deadline will not be used for ranking or for admission purposes.  The highest composite ACT score on file will be used.

    You can access your submitted ACT score(s) online through your mysuscc account.  

    SUSCC does not utilize or accept ACT superscores.

  • SECTION B:  ACADEMIC CORE 

    You will be awarded points toward your application based on your final course grade for select academic core courses: 

    NOTE: You should consult with an Academic Advisor regarding the transferability of courses taken at another institution.  Course work from an institution that is not nationally or regionally accredited will not be accepted.

  • SECTION C:  COURSEWORK COMPLETED AT SUSCC 

    You will be awarded up to three (3) points for either certificates / programs completed at SUSCC OR completion of twelve (12) academic core credit hours at SUSCC with a "C" or higher.

  • SECTION D: EARNED DEGREE

    Three (3) points will be awarded if a student has an Associate Degree ot higher awarded from a regionally accredited institution.  The degree must be posted on official transcript when application submitted.
